Ali Boumnijel is finally enjoying some time in the spotlight after more than a decade as back-up goalkeeper to Chokri El Ouaer. After making his debut in 1991, Boumnijel had to wait five years to get his second cap. He has been Tunisia’s number one ever since the 2002 FIFA World Cup™, where he played in all three group matches. In 2004 he was in the Tunisian team who won the African Cup of Nations. If he plays in Germany, 40-year-old Boumnijel will become the fifth oldest player ever to appear at the FIFA World Cup.
